A strong woman : a poem
She asks, “Have you ever been so happy that you cry?”
She sits, moving the food around her plate
Wearing a pink panther tshirt and pink lipstick
Telling me she cried three times today
Here in Kenya
We stood feet away from leopards, lions, and cheetahs
Close enough to see the muscle definition and force
We felt the wind against our skin and the sun warming our faces
We watched the sun set with a thousand colors
We bounced, jolted, moved with the land cruiser
Thrilled at the stretch of land, green and yellow
She is traveling alone. She left Saudi Arabia at age 14
For Cairo, Egypt
For a better life with Tom Hanks, yoga, and card games
She drops her head shyly to break out in a smile
That changes her whole entire demeanor
To a warrior.
