Amazon Jungle // a poem

Published by katieandmiki on

The sun still rises during a thunderstorm

The parrots, the toucans, the frogs, the crickets

Are all singing their designated songs

The rain has stopped but still

The drops travel from leaf to leaf

The palm fronds shiny green from moisture

Leo’s face shines as well, with joy & belonging

Welcome to my home, Leo says

As he uses his machete

The jungle is a part of me.

My belly button is over there;

You can find everything in the jungle.

The monkeys know

Jumping from tree to tree.
