Addis drive // a poem

Published by katieandmiki on

The sing-song sound of amharic

Between the driver and her son

Passing stories

Standing in line for the bus

Selling limes, selling bananas

Roasting corn on the cob

Playing soccer with friends

Boys on their hauches playing marbles

Goats, goats, and more goats

For the new year celebrations

Drinking tej, honey wine, laughing

Donkeys carrying firewood and timber

Priests with incense, collecting money

Teenagers selling biscuits and buckets

Standing in between rows of traffic
